All 7th grade students will complete four activities on SmartFutures - Knowledge Skills Ability Survey, Economics of Jobs, Career Acquisition Documents, & Career Research.
Knowledge Skills Ability Survey -
How do I know if I am a good fit for a position or not? The Knowledge Skills Ability activity will allow students to agree/disagree with statements that relate their personal morals/abilities/goals to what career field(s) are most suitable to them.
Economics of Jobs -
Within each company, there is a specific chain of command. Who do I report to on my first day of work? How do I become promoted within the company? This activity will allow students to understand the ins and outs of what it means to work for a given company or employer.
Career Acquisition Documents -
What do I take with me to an interview or my first day of work? How do I know what to prepare? The Career Acquisition Documents activity will teach students what type of documents and information are necessary for both interviewers and employers to have when making employment decisions, in addition to, what documents are needed to protect the well-being and safety of the employer and its employees.
Career Research -
How do I find a job/career? Where do I find an application? This activity will guide students through the career research process to understand 1) how to apply for a job and 2) what it means when a job/career posting lists recommended and required qualifications for employment.
